L’« environnementalisation » du travail social : enjeux pour la formation et la pratique face à la crise climatique

Abstract

La crise écologique et climatique induit de nouvelles formes d’inégalités socio-environnementales. Pourtant, environnement et climat constituent encore des points aveugles des formations et métiers du travail social. Comment l’expliquer? Dans cet article, nous émettons l’hypothèse que la persistance de modes de pensée et d’action étatique proprement «modernes» retardent l’institutionnalisation d’un «travail social environnemental» et exprimons des recommandations pour rendre les enjeux environnementaux plus présents dans la formation et la pratique en travail social.

The “environmentalisation” of social work: Issues for education and practice in the face of the climate crisis

The ecological and climate crisis is leading to new forms of socio-environmental inequalities. However, these issues still occupy little space in social work training and professions. How can this relative absence be explained? In this article, we hypothesize that the persistence of “modern” modes of thinking and state action delays the emergence of a “social environmental work”, and we deliver a series of recommendations to make environmental and climate challenges more present in social work training and practice.
