[Dossier 2024] Perspective historique du handicap et contradictions actuelles autour de la personne vieillissante en institutions socio-éducatives

Abstract

Les manières de considérer, d’appréhender et d’accompagner le handicap n’ont cessé d’évoluer à travers le temps. Actuellement, les principes d’inclusion, de participation sociale et de libre choix constituent les référentiels clefs sur lesquels se basent les établissements socio-éducatifs (ESE) pour orienter leurs dispositifs d’accompagnement. L’article propose un éclairage critique sur la manière dont l’accompagnement des personnes vieillissantes en ESE questionne et défie l’application concrète de ces principes.

Historical perspective on disability and current contradictions around the ageing people in residential institutions

The ways in which disability is considered, understood and supported have continued to evolve over time. Today, the principles of inclusion, social participation and free choice are the key reference points on which residential institutions base their support systems. This article sheds critical light on the way in which support for ageing people in residential institutions questions and challenges the practical application of these principles.
