[Positions and debates] Die Verantwortung der Sozialen Arbeit im Kontext von Human Enhancement

Abstract

Human Enhancement beschreibt technologische oder biomedizinische Entwicklungen, die vermehrt eingesetzt werden, um die physischen und psychischen Potenziale von Menschen zu optimieren. In diesem Beitrag wird die Verantwortung der Sozialen Arbeit für eine aktive Beteiligung am ethisch-moralischen Diskurs um das Phänomen Human Enhancement aus der Perspektive des systemischen Paradigmas nach Staub-Bernasconi herausgearbeitet und diskutiert, wie eine menschenrechtsorientierte Positionierung der Profession aussehen könnte.

The Responsibility of Social Work in the Context of Human Enhancement

Human Enhancement refers to the use of technology or biomedical interventions increasingly used to optimize the physical and psychological potentials of individuals. This article examines the responsibility of social work to actively participate in the ethical and moral discourse surrounding the phenomenon of human enhancement from the perspective of Staub-Bernasconi’s systemic paradigm and discusses what a human rights-oriented positioning of the profession might look like.
